There's nowhere to go but up
By ED HEDES
Just three weeks left in the regular season and there is nowhere to go but up for this corner as far as Grid Picks are concerned.
Last week, there were a number of toss-up contests and needless to say, every one was a loss for me. While most had just three or four wrong, I went 8-7 for the worst record of the week.
I've been offered help from various friends, but figured it's almost too late. I've even put the ol' crystal ball away, so this week, all of the picks come right from me.
So here goes:
TAMAQUA AT PANTHER VALLEY - Panthers got a nice win over Shenandoah Valley last week, but the Raiders shocked our complete panel by handling Schuylkill Haven rather easily...Tamaqua, 25-14.
SCHUYLKILL HAVEN AT JIM THORPE - Were the Hurricanes looking ahead to this week's meeting with the Olympians? Doesn't matter, Mark Rosenberger's club has AFL title on its mind...Jim Thorpe, 21-7.
MARIAN AT SHENANDOAH VALLEY - The big question is, who will be Marian's QB this week? The Colts haven't missed a beat since Week 4...Marian, 21-7.
PEN ARGYL AT NORTHWESTERN - This is a big contest for both teams as far as keeping themselves in contention for a District 11 playoff berth...Northwestern, 21-20.
NORTHERN LEHIGH AT BANGOR - The Slaters have their swagger back and one strong running game...Bangor, 18-14.
PALMERTON AT CATASAUQUA - Tell me one team in the entire district that can stop the Roughies...Catasauqua, 36-7.
LEHIGHTON AT EAST STROUDSBURG SOUTH - A big test for the Indians, since the Cavaliers haven't been stopped yet...East Stroudsburg South, 21-7.
PLEASANT VALLEY AT ALLEN - Bears get a little bit of a break after playing a couple of tough opponents...Pleasant Valley, 43-0.
POCONO MOUNTAIN WEST AT DIERUFF - Huskies have to be liking the fact when the LVC and MVC merge next year, they'll be in the MVC Division...Dieruff, 21-14.
PALISADES AT NOTRE DAME - Another toss-up game, but Pirates have had the better going of it lately...Palisades, 21-20.
SAUCON VALLEY AT SOUTHERN LEHIGH - Spartans look to gain some momentum through the last couple of weeks...Southern Lehigh, 27-14.
SAILSBURY AT WILSON - Falcons haven't tasted too many wins the past three years. Warriors are 0-7 this season...Salisbury, 21-18.
NORTH SCHUYLKILL AT MAHANOY AREA - Did the Olympians burst the Golden Bears' bubble last week?...North Schuylkill, 27-24.
EMMAUS AT WHITEHALL - Zephyrs defense will be a big factor in this one...Whitehall, 28-14.
EASTON AT LIBERTY - Hurricanes didn't come through for us last week against Emmaus. So this week, it's...Easton 21-14.
