Members of the Lansford American Legion Post are making plans to raze the old post home on Ridge Street, which stands in front of the modern brick structure completed the rear in 1950.
A fund-raising campaign to pay for the project is now under way. Target date for the demolition is next spring.
The old home with its big front porch is deemed beyond repair. Contractors desiring to submit bids to raze the building are asked to present them to the post home or to Post Commander Frank Priggins.
The Legion post purchased the old home from the late Dr. Robert Kistler, who made his home there for many years and conducted his medical practice at the site.
