Carbon gets food, shelter funds

Carbon County has received $34,362 through the Emergency Food and Shelter Program under the Department of Homeland Security.

This funding is monitored by the National Board. EFSP is nondisaster, supplemental funding. There is an administrative allowance of $687. This leaves $33,674 to provide for food, shelter and utility assistance.EFSP funding is open to all organizations helping hungry and homeless people. EFSP funds must be used to supplement feeding, sheltering (including transitional sheltering) and rent/mortgage and utility assistance efforts only.Each agency has five business days to respond to this notice to apply for these funds from the United States Department of Homeland Security from the Federal Emergency Management Agency.A letter requesting funds must be received by Friday, Oct. 25.
