Technology director adds curriculum to job tasks

Palmerton Area School District's director of technology has also been named as acting director of curriculum and instruction.

The school board unanimously agreed on Tuesday to approve Dan Heaney as acting director of curriculum and instruction, at the additional stipend of $90 per day, retroactive to Oct. 1.

Heaney, who also serves as the district's director of technology, will fill the position until Sherrie Fenner, director of curriculum and instruction, returns from leave.

In other business, the board:

Approved salary adjustments for horizontal movement on the respective salary levels for David Lavin, from BS+24 to Masters, per the teachers' pending negotiated contract, effective Aug. 21, 2013.

Approved Tricia McElmoyle as mentor to the Learning Support teacher assigned to the high school.

Removed Marianna Chryst as a substitute teacher, effective Oct. 2.

Approved military leave, beginning Nov. 19, for Michael Lengle. His return to work date is the first teacher day of the 2014-15 school year.

Approved Jacquelyn Kinsella, Elementary & ESL, as day-to-day substitute teacher, effective Oct. 16.

Approved BillyJo Moyer, secretary, instructional assistant, as day-to-day substitute support staff, effective Oct. 16.
