Indians post wins in two sports

The Lehighton girls volleyball and boys soccer teams wrapped up successful regular seasons by picking up non league wins on Monday.

The Palmerton girls soccer team defeated Lehighton to conclude its season on a winning note.

Lehighton breezed to a 25-11, 25-10, 25-14 win over Schuylkill Haven in non league play.

Jackie Jordan paced the Lady Indians (13-5) with two aces, 16 kills and three digs while Tiff Thompson chipped in three aces, eight kills and two digs. Lehighton's Taylor Yurasits had a game-high 30 assists while also adding three aces, two kills and six digs in the win.



Lehighton used a fast start and a strong finish to earn a 7-1 non league win over Palmerton.

The Indians had a 4-0 lead at halftime, led by Drake Didyoung and Dan Baka, who had two goals apiece.

Lehighton continued to apply offensive pressure after intermission, getting goals from Derek Berger, Anthony Rosino and Joe Marks.

Rossino also had three assists in the game as the Indians improved their record to 10-7-1.

Austin Shupp scored the lone goal for Bombers (3-13).



Palmerton started strong and held off a late Lehighton rally for a 5-3 non league win.

The Lady Bombers got all of their goals in the first half, led by Monica Wood and Sabrina Strauch, who had two apiece.

Alison Andrew, Jada Whitemad and Morgan Yurasits had second half goals for the Lady Indians.


Lehigh Valley Christian used a second half rally to defeat Weatherly 2-1 in non league action.

Katelin Gillespie and Livia Gehman scored the goals for Lehigh Valley Christian.

Rachel Moon scored Weatherly's lone goal while Cheyenne Wallfih made five saves for the Lady Wreckers.
