Tamaqua Community Art Center hosts Arts and Music Festival

Volunteers with the Tamaqua Community Art Center, 125 Pine St., Tamaqua, are in full swing as they prepare the center for this Sunday's free Community Arts and Music Festival, which will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The event, which is held in conjunction with Tamaqua Historical Society's Heritage Festival, will involve hourly art and craft demonstrations, poetry readings, art displays and theater improvisation.Art and craft demonstrations and displays will consist of pottery wheel, spinning wheel, photography, quilting, hand stitching, mixed media, pencil drawing, painting, wood working, fiber crafts and more.Fall tile making for adults will take place from noon to 1 p.m.A poetry reading by Marcus Colasurdo will take place from 1-2 p.m.Children will be able to interact via a variety of activities in the downstairs children's craft room.For more information visit the center's website at
