Lehighton Bible Church events

Lehighton Bible Church, Jamestown and Center streets will hold a hymn sing at Mahoning Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, on Thursday, Oct. 17.

There will be a men's breakfast and fellowship at the Beacon 443 Diner on Saturday, Oct. 26. Game night will be held on Saturday, Nov. 9.

Weekly services are held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, and 10 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. on Sunday. All are welcome.

September students of the month

Sherry Sernak, principal of St. Peter and Paul School, Lehighton announced September Students of the Month: early childhood, Steven Roberti; preschool, Asher Traylor; kindergarten, Amanda Gowin and Sophia Sarnowski; first grade, Owen Rakos; second grade, Anthony Macario-Chaikalis; third grade, Amara Smith; fourth grade, Cecilia Sarnowski; fifth grade, Hailey Hoffman; sixth grade, Gina Piccioni; seventh grade, Joseph McGinley; and eighth grade, Bruce Smith.

Service of Healing

Blue Mountain Health System Women's Cancer Support Group will be taking part in a Service of Healing for the October activity. There will be no meeting at Gnaden Huetten Hospital. Contact group leader Mary Ann Hazel at 610-824-6490, with further questions.

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month, there will be a Service of Healing at Zion U.C.C., 225 Iron St., at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15. The Rev. Allen Heckman will lead the service with prayers and anointing for wholeness and healing. The ceremony is aimed at assisting with healing, whether one's burdens are physical, spiritual, or emotional. Those planning to attend should enter at the tan doors at the handicap-accessible ramp at the Second Street side of the church building. The church office phone is 610-377-1191.

Trinity happenings

Trinity Lutheran Church, 175 S. Third St., Lehighton, will hold 20th Sunday after Pentecost worship at 9 a.m. The service includes contemporary music by the Trinity Praise Band. Interim pastor, the Rev. Don Hayn, will preside. Coffeehouse fellowship follows.

Sunday School classes meet at 10:15 a.m. for ages 3 through grade 12.

Knotters group

The "Knotters" of Trinity Lutheran Church, 175 S. Third St., Lehighton, meet each week at 8:30 a.m. Thursday to work on quilts that will be sent to an agency for distribution. The bed quilt not only serves as a source of warmth and comfort, but also provide sunshade, can serve as a baby carrier, and can display vegetables at market to people in need following disasters. For anyone with time, patience and the ability to tie knots, your presence is welcome.

Crop Walk

Crop Walk, coordinated by Lehighton Interfaith Fellowship, will be held Sunday, Oct. 13, at Lehigh Canal Park, Weissport. Registration begins at 1 p.m. Walk begins at 2 p.m. There is a one-mile or four-mile course. Call the church office at 610-377-4303 for pledge forms. Same-day registrants are welcome. Money received benefits Trinity Food Pantry, and Church World Services for relief and development programs. Walkers and sponsors are welcome.

Free community dinner

All Saints Episcopal Church, 301 N. Second St., Lehighton, will host a free community dinner from 4-6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17. The menu is roast beef sandwiches, salad and green beans and ice cream for dessert. All are welcome.
