Weatherly hosts parade for 150th anniversary
ANDREW LEIBENGUTH/TIMES NEWS Members of Weatherly's Anniversary Committee wave as they pass during the start of Weatherly's 150th Anniversary Parade Saturday.
The 150th Weatherly Anniversary Committee staged a parade and a gathering of residents in Eurana Park over the weekend as part of its year-long celebration.
"What a great way to enjoy my own living anniversary," said local resident Terry Hartz, while watching the parade with friends and family. Hartz moved to Weatherly 22 years ago on Oct. 5, the same date as the parade.
"What a great way for everyone to come out and support the town," added Hartz, who had two daughters marching in the band.
"Weatherly is a wonderful town to raise kids," said Weatherly native Linda Garber, who praised the efforts of the 150th Anniversary Committee and town for their year-long of events. Garber spent 32 years as a Weatherly elementary school teacher.
Music during the parade was provided by the Weatherly Area High School Band and the Shriners of Reading.
Following the parade, participants and visitors stopped at Eurana Park for refreshments and other activities.
