Tigers rolls in boys, girls soccer

The Northwestern boys and girls soccer teams continued to roll, with each posting dominant victories. The Jim Thorpe and Marian volleyball teams also picked up victories as did the Olympian boys soccer team.
Northwestern used a strong second half to pull away from Palmerton en route to a 9-1 Colonial League victory.
Brandon Ettl had a hat trick and an assist for the Tigers (12-1-2). Jay Hereba and Kyle Willis notched two goals apiece.
Austin Shupp scored Palmerton's lone goal while Rich Roselli made 16 saves for the Bombers (3-11) .
Jim Thorpe-North Schuylkill
Jim Thorpe shut out North Schuylkill, 6-0, as Steven Principe scored all six goals.
Principe put in two in the first half on assists from Cody Geiser and Matt Miller. Mike Schwartz assisted on the next two, while Sam Gilkes got the helper on the final goal.
Jim Thorpe keepr Carter Rodriguez stopped all five North Schuylkill shots.
Northwestern used contributions from a number of players to earn a 10-0 Colonial League win over Palmerton.
Sabrina Mertz and Sarah Segan each had hat tricks for the Lady Tigers (13-1-1), while Angela Motolese added two more goals in the rout.
Pine Grove scored two goals late in the first half for a 2-0 Schuylkill League win over Tamaqua.
Jess Fath and Kelli Readinger registered the goals for the Lady Cardinals (8-6).
Carly Sassman recorded 12 saves for Tamaqua (5-10).
Tamaqua won the JV game 3-2.
Pottsville edged Jim Thorpe 1-0 in Schuylkill League action.
After a scoreless first half, Gabrielle Evans scored the only goal of the game.

Jocelyn DeMarco led the Lady Olympians (8-8) with eight kills, five blocks and two aces while Erin Shigo added four kills, nine digs and four aces. Riley Carroll had a game-high 17 assists for Jim Thorpe.
Rylee Devlin paced Tamaqua (4-10) with seven service points, eight kills, three blocks and eight digs while teammate Rebecca Minehan chipped in seven kills and 10 digs.
Jim Thorpe also won the JV game, 2-1.
Panther Valley-Blue Mtn.
Blue Mountain eased past Panther Valley in straight sets, 25-15, 25-18, 25-19, to claim a Schuylkill League victory.
Marley Mikovich led the Lady Panthers (8-4) with eight service points, one ace and five digs while Richelle Van Horn chipped in two service points and seven digs.
The win moves Blue Mountain to 11-3 this season.
Pocono Mtn. East-Lehighton
Lehighton scored early and often, defeating PM East 22-0 in a Mountain Valley Conference game.
Cody Scherer scored two rushing touchdowns for the Indians in the contest, one in the first to start the scoring and another in the fourth to put the game away.
