LALLC plans meeting

Lehighton Area Lioness Lions will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 10 at Concern Treatment Center for Boys on Club Road in Lehighton. Members will honor the young men at the center for the partnership they extend during the club's various fundraising functions throughout the year. Pizza and dessert will be provided.

This is a change in meeting date due to the Lions District 14-U Rally being held at the Mahoning Valley Ambulance Building at 6 o'clock tonight. Members who plan to attend the meeting or the rally should contact Lion Sue Anthony. In addition, the board meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24 at a location to be announced.

Community members are encouraged to place used eyeglasses at any of the following Lehighton locations: Lehighton High Rise, First Street; Lehighton Library, South Street; PNC Bank, First Street; Wells Fargo Bank, Interchange Road; Jim Thorpe National Bank, Fourth Street; Mallard Market, Second Street; Lehighton Municipal Building, Second Street; Dr. Hawk Dental Office, South Third Street; Dr. Dematte Chiropractic, Interchange Road, Lehighton; PNC Bank, Route 443; and Gnaden Huetten Memorial Hospital, 12th Street.

Eyeglasses are recycled for those in other countries who are unable to afford corrective lenses. Fifty-nine pairs of eyeglasses were recently collected from the donation sites. Anyone needing financial assistance with eyeglasses can contact Committee Chairman Lisa Whitehead at (610) 379-4002.

There are financial guidelines that must be followed by all applicants and a written application must be completed and approved.

Trinity happenings

First Saturday choral worship at Trinity Lutheran Church, 175 S. Third St., Lehighton, will hold First Saturday choral worship at 5 p.m. The service includes Holy Communion. The Rev. Michael Frost, pastor of Zions, Stone Church, New Ringgold, will preside.

Twentieth Sunday after Pentecost worship with Holy Communion is at 9 a.m. Interim pastor, the Rev. Donald Hayn, will preside. Coffeehouse fellowship follows.

Sunday School classes meet at 10:15 a.m. for ages 3 through grade 12.

Trinity's Women of the ELCA will have an annual joint meeting with the Women of Grace Lutheran Church at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 10, in Luther Hall. Guest speaker Bob Perrin, who has been known to dig under outhouses in an archaeological manner, will share some local history discoveries. Interested people are invited to attend.

Crop Walk

Lehighton CROP Walk, coordinated by Lehighton Interfaith Fellowship, is Sunday, Oct. 13, at Lehigh Canal Park, Weissport. Registration begins at 1 p.m., the walk begins at 2 p.m. There is a one mile or four mile course.

Call the church office at (610) 377-4303 for pledge forms. Money received benefits Trinity Food Pantry, and Church World Services for relief and development programs. Walkers and sponsors are welcome.

Lehighton Bible Church events

Lehighton Bible Church, Jamestown and Center streets, will hold its 43rd anniversary at 10 a.m. Sunday Oct. 6. There will be cake and coffee following the morning service.

Saturday Nov. 9 will be game night. More information to come.

Weekly services are held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at 10 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Sunday. All are welcome.
