Park Committee meetings

A meeting of the Christmas in the Park committee will be held at 6 o'clock tonight in the borough hall. A meeting of the Palmerton Holiday Lighting Committee will follow at 7 p.m.

Crop Walk

The annual Crop walk in Palmerton will begin at St. John's Lutheran Church, Fireline Road, on Oct. 13. Registration begins at 1 p.m. The walk begins at 1:30 p.m.

Halloween Parade

The Palmerton Halloween Parade, sponsored by the Palmerton Area Chamber of Commerce, will be held on Sunday, Oct. 20, beginning at 4 p.m. The rain date will be Monday, Oct. 21.

Newspaper drive

The men and boys of St. John's Lutheran Church will hold their monthly newspaper drive on Saturday, Oct. 5. There will be one sweep of the Palmerton, Aquashicola, and Little Gap areas beginning at 8 a.m.

Papers should be bundled and placed within sight of the collectors. They are collecting papers only, no magazines. The shiny inserts are acceptable. They also need grocery size brown paper bags.

Persons missed, or those wishing to dispose of papers throughout the month, may take them to the garage across from the church on Fireline Road, which is always open. In case of bad weather, the drive will be held the following Saturday.

Community meal

A free community meal will be held from 5-6:30 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 8, at St. John's United Church of Christ, 891 Columbia Ave., Palmerton.

Come enjoy a free meal and fellowship.

Knitting Club

The Knitting Club will meet at 6 p.m., Monday, Oct. 7, at the Palmerton Area Library.

The club is free and open to anyone interested in knitting and crocheting on all skill levels.

Friends of the Library

The Friends of the Palmerton Area Library will meet at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 8, at the library.

All are welcome.
