Left turn on Delaware questioned
Should motorists continue to be allowed to make a left-hand turn to park their vehicles at businesses while traveling west along Palmerton's main thoroughfare?
Borough Councilman Jeremy Barbosa told borough council on Tuesday that he believes there are too many instances where motorists do just that to park at businesses along Delaware Avenue.
Barbosa said he's noticed the trend more and more over the last several years, and added, "It's ridiculous."
But, borough Manager Rodger Danielson told Barbosa motorists are allowed to do just that.
"It is actually a legal turn," Danielson said. "It's not a U-turn; it's called a J-turn."
In other business, council unanimously agreed to:
• Approve a military leave of absence policy
• Renew the borough's sludge hauling agreement with Waste Management, with the 2014 rate to be $89 per ton.
• Reappoint France, Anderson, Basile & Co. as the borough's auditor.
