One injured in crash

The driver of this car was seriously injured in a one-vehicle crash early Sunday morning in Rush Township. The driver, whose name has not been released by police, was traveling west on Pine Creek Drive (SR 54) around 5 a.m. when he lost control and crashed into this utility pole. Trapped in the vehicle for 30 minutes, he was extricated by members of the Tamaqua Rescue Squad, assisted by firefighters from the Hometown, Quakake and Ryan Township Fire Companies. Rush Township and Tamaqua Police, as well as Hometown and Tamaqua Fire Police also assisted at the scene. The victim was transported to the Ryan Township Fire Company by ambulance and then airlifted to a Lehigh Valley hospital.
