Monthly hoagie sales by the New Columbus Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary certainly paid off when the auxiliary was able to purchase new equipment to donate to the fire company. A battery-operated Rhyno windshield cutter with accessories was recently purchased for $700. From left are Dave Chapman, captain; Don Schlier, first assistant fire chief; Gerry McConnon, auxiliary president; Liz Mele, vice president; and Audrey Damiano, treasurer. The Rhyno windshield cutter is new to the market and was designed by firemen. The new design and suction cups make it safer for victims during a rescue.
