Tamaqua police have filed charges against a Lansford man who allegedly stole a variety of tools from a contractor.

Angelo Tejera contacted police on Oct. 12 to report the theft of approximately $4,200 worth of tools and equipment, taken from a home he was remodeling at 220 Penn St. Tejera had been working at the home the previous day with a day laborer, Zachary Rossi, 19, of 253 E. Abbott St., Lansford. The home was locked and secured when the men left at 3 p.m.

The next morning the contractor returned to find the back door hanging open and the front door unlocked. His tools and equipment were missing.

Witnesses told police about two men and a woman entering the vacant home shortly after 8 p.m. on the night in question. The trio spent about 20 minutes taking items from the home and transferring them to a vehicle parked in front of the residence. Witnesses were able to identify Rossi as one of the trio.

He was charged with burglary, theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property, and criminal trespass.
