Dinner to aid Albrightsville family

Members of the Holiday Pocono Civic Association Inc. is hosting a pork and sauerkraut dinner to help the Barberio family, who lost a loved one in a fire recently.

The dinner will be held from 4-7 p.m Saturday at the association's clubhouse, located on Route 534 West, Albrightsville, directly next to the Albrightsville Fire Department. Tickets are $7 for adults and $4 for children, children under 5 are free.

Bruce Barberio, 40, was seriously injured, while his girlfriend Melissa Berwis, 29, both of Albrightsville, was killed in a fatal explosion at a home in Lake Harmony Estates last week. The couple was cleaning the home at the time of the explosion, which was ruled accidental and occurred as a result of a damaged propane line.

The couple has three children ages 2, 7 and 10.

In addition to the dinner, a fund has been set up to assist the family through the Albrightsville Fire Company. Donations can be made to the Barberio Family Fund and mailed to the firehouse at P.O. Box 133, Albrightsville, PA 18210. Checks can also be dropped off at Mauch Chunk Trust Company.
