Christmas concert set by Lehighton Band

The Lehighton Band will close out its 2013 season with its annual Christmas Dinner and Concert at 6 p.m. Dec. 7.

This program is cosponsored by the Shoemaker-Haydt Post of the American Legion and will be held in the post home at the corner of Third and Bridge Streets in Lehighton.

Beginning at 6 p.m., a turkey dinner will be served followed by the band concert beginning at 7 p.m.

The Lehighton Band, directed by Paul R. Smith, will offer a wide variety of Christmas selections. Included will be religious numbers as well as secular selections.

Several soloists will befeatured including Joseph Plechavy III singing the popular "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas" and Laura and Brad Cressley (a father-daughter team) singing a medley of winter tunes including "Sleigh Ride," "Winter Wonderland," and "Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!"

Rob Gildersleeve will come out of the tuba section tonarrate the "The Night Before Christmas" and the audience will also have a chance to sing in "A Holiday Sing-Along."

In observance of PearlHarbor Day, the band will present "The Homefront: Musical Memories From World War II. Six memorable tunes from that era will be included in thismedley.
