A portion of Catawissa Street in Nesquehoning was shut down Monday morning after a one-vehicle crash happened at approximately 8:30 a.m. on the 300 block of East Catawissa Street. A Shawn Kresge Electric truck traveled off the road for unknown reasons and struck a utility pole, bringing down wires, before coming to rest on the front porch of a double home and causing structural damage to the house. Nesquehoning police, as well as Nesquehoning, New Columbus and Hauto fire companies responded to the scene, shutting down the road while PPL crews turned off power to the downed wires. No further details, including if anyone was injured, were available as of press time.
