Schuylkill woman facing charges
State police at Schuylkill Haven have charged a Schuylkill County woman with driving under the influence of a controlled substance stemming from a head-on crash that occurred in September.
Troopers said blood test results showed that Nicole Marie Moore, 27, of Minersville, was driving under the influence when she crashed her 2006 Hyundai Sonata into a 2010 Kia Soul. Seriously injured in the crash were two young children in the vehicle with Moore. The driver of the other vehicle, Debra Skripko, 54, of Llewellyn, was also injured.
The crash occurred on Sept. 21 about 2:35 p.m. along SR901 near Red Horse Road, in North Manheim Township.
Moore was westbound when, for unknown reasons, her car entered the eastbound lane and collided head-on with Skripko's vehicle.
A 6-year-old female and a 5-month old female, were flown by medevac helicopter to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township, with serious injuries, troopers reported at the time.
Moore and Skripko were taken to the Schuylkill Medical Center-S. Jackson St., Pottsville, for treatment of moderate injuries.
A third child with Moore, a 3-year-old male, was not injured.
Troopers said in addition to the DUI count they will file "other appropriate" charges against Moore.
