Tamaqua driver facing DUI count

A Tamaqua driver is facing a charge of driving under the influence following an incident that occurred about 11:26 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 2, along SR61 near Jerry's Northeast Auto Sales, in North Manheim Township.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said Francis Betz Jr., 22, was stopped driving a 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 truck after he was observed committing a traffic violation.

He was found to be under the influence of alcohol and submitted to field sobriety tests, troopers said. He was then transported to the Schuylkill Medical Center-S. Jackson St., Pottsville, for a blood test.

The DUI charge is pending the blood test results, troopers added.
