Running of the Dawgs set Saturday

Published May 31. 2013 05:03PM

Ready to take a fun run in the sun?

Those who possess enough gumption to brave the heat will have the chance to do just that on Saturday.

That's when the annual Running of the Dawgs 5K Run/Fitness Walk and 1-Mile Run Run will be held at Northern Lehigh Bulldog Community Stadium, 1 Bulldog Lane, Slatington.

Despite the warm weather that's been forecast, the event sponsored by the Northern Lehigh Education Foundation figures to attract a solid number of participants as it does each year.

Registration is at 7:30 a.m. The 1-Mile Fun Run starts at 8:30 a.m., followed by the 5K Run/Walk at 9 a.m.

The post race features awards, a drawing, and dog costume judging.

Awards will be given by way of 5K run prizes to first, second and third-place overall male/female, and a variety of other categories.

Dogs are also welcome to come in costume, as there will be an award given for the best dog costume. A prize will be awarded to the best dressed dog in town.

Proceeds from the event will go to educational enrichment programs within the school district.
