During the recent School Board Conference hosted by Carbon Lehigh Intermediate Unit 21, Dave Krause was recognized with an award in appreciation for seven years of dedicated service as a director on the Lehighton Area School District Board of Education.

"Despite the many hours of work involved, it is very rewarding to serve the community to help children learn and see that our tax dollars are managed wisely," said Krause.

CLIU Executive Director Dr. Elaine Eib presented the award to Krause at Lehigh Carbon Community College in Schnecksville.

Krause is currently the most senior director serving on the LASD board. During his tenure, he was elected president of the board for six years, chaired the Legislative, Personnel, and Policy committees, and served on the Building and Grounds, Curriculum, Finance, and Strategic Planning committees.

In addition to Krause, LASD was also represented at the conference by Superintendent Jonathan J. Cleaver, Business Administrator Michael Malay, and School Director Wayne Wentz.

Keynote speaker for the conference was Ronald Cowell, President of the Education Policy and Leadership Center (EPLC).

CLIU serves as the coordinating agency that brings together diverse school districts, vocational schools, higher education, businesses, and community groups. As a link between the Pennsylvania Department of Education and local school districts, CLIU utilizes a "regional team" approach to provide innovative, responsive, and cost-effective programs.
