Eighty kids participated in the Andrea's Sporting Club's annual fishing derby recently at the club's pond. The event was held for children 15 and under. "The turnout was great," said President Jim Knappenberger. "The event gets better every year."

Kim Deem, field captain, expressed the club's appreciation to the Sportsman Rod and Gun Club and area community members for their support and yearly sponsorship of the derby. In addition to many prizes, children received free hot dogs and drinks. The biggest fish will be mounted free of charge by Hill's Wildlife Taxidermy.

"The event really brings the community together," said Deem.
