The engagement of Karen Schlenner of Middleboro, Mass. to Eric Pruyne, also of Massachusetts, has been announced by her parents.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of Walter and Fay Schlenner of Jim Thorpe. She is a graduate of Thomas Jefferson University where she earned a doctorate in physical therapy. She is employed by Southcoast Physical Therapy in Wareham, Mass.The prospective bridegroom is the son of William Pruyne of Massachusetts and Karen Burrington of Connecticut. He is employed by the VA Hospital in Brockton, Mass.A wedding is planned for Oct. 5 of this year in Jim Thorpe.
