Killed was Michael West, 55, of Stroudsburg. He was operating a minivan taxi owned by the Pocono Cab Company.

According to reports West was northbound when his vehicle crossed into the southbound lane and collided into a Coolbaugh Township Fire Company fire police van, which was occupied by four firefighters.

West was trapped in the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene by county coroner Bob Allen.

The four firefighters, whose names were not immediately released, were all injured and taken to area hospitals. Reportedly two were released after treatment while two others were admitted.
