The engagement of Mallory Sweeney to Eric Schmieder, both of Newark, N.J., has been announced by her parents.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Sweeney Jr. of Schnecksville. She graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor of arts from Bucknell University, and will graduate this month with a juris doctorate from Seton Hall Law School.She is employed by Fitzpatrick, Lentz, Bubba Law Firm in Center Valley, Pa.The prospective bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Schmieder of Allentown. He graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor of science from Kings College. He is employed as an accountant by Price Waterhouse Cooper in Florham Park, N.J.The couple are planning a wedding for Oct. 25 of this year at The Manor House at Commonwealth in Horsham, Pa.
