Some contests for four area school board posts
There are contests for seats on three of the four area school districts' boards of directors in next Tuesday's Municipal Primary Election.
Panther Valley, Hazleton, and Blue Mountain have contests, while Tamaqua's candidates are unopposed.
Those seeking nominations for school director are as follows:
Four directors are to be nominated on each ballot and the same four candidates cross filed and have no opposition.
They are, Mark Rotter, 440 Hazle St.; Bryan W. Miller, 94 S. Red Oak Terrace, New Ringgold; Thomas A. Rottet, 1232 Catawissa Road, and Aaron R. Frantz, 85 Roads End Road, West Penn Township.
Four directors are to be nominated on each ballot. The borough of Coaldale is included in the Panther Valley School District. There is no contest on the Republican ballot.
The candidates are Richard Zabroski, Nesquehoning; Irene A. Genther, Nesquehoning; John Williams, Lansford; and Brian J. Dolena. Summit Hill.
There is a contest on the Democratic ballot.
The candidates are Richard Zabroski, John Williams, Brian J. Dolena, Irene A. Genther, and Daniel J. Heaney.
Four directors are to be nominated. The borough of McAdoo and townships of East Union, North Union, and Kline are included in the Hazleton Area School District boundary.
There are contests on the Republican and Democratic ballots as eight candidates are running and all cross filed.
They are, Steven Hahn and Bob Mehalick, both of Sugarloaf; and Carmella Yenkevich, Clarence John, Thomas J. Chirico, James G. Chapman, Jared M. O'Donnell, and Fred Frederick Mariano, all of Hazleton.

There are contests on both the Republican and Democratic ballots as six candidates are running and all cross filed. They are, Gerald A. Ravitz, 29 Ranch Road, North Manheim Township; Anne Usuka,178 Schuylkill Mountain Road, North Manheim Township; Herman Robert Figge, 55 Old Country Lane, New Ringgold; Mary Jo Moss, 375 Patton Drive, Orwigsburg; Timothy G. Grube, 12 Black Walnut Lane, North Manheim Township; and Dean Gherghel, 1073 Grove Street, Orwigsburg.
