One-car crash probed in Monroe

State police at Lehighton reported investigating a one-vehicle crash about 4:26 p.m. on May 10 along SR209 near Kitty Lane, in Polk Township, Monroe County.

Troopers said Dana Vitale, 47, of Albrightsville, for unknown reasons, lost control of her car and struck a utility pole, then traveled about 50 feet into a grassy area, where it came to a stop.

The utility pole was broken off and power lines were down on and near the road. Responding were West End ambulance, Polk Township and Trachsville fire companies, Palmerton Telephone Company, PPL Utilities, and PennDOT.

Vitale sustained a minor injury but did not require immediate medical attention. A passenger, Mariella Vitale, 8, was not injured. The vehicle had to be towed from the scene.
