Police confirm identity of MaryD man who died under race car
State police said that Andrew Fayash Jr., 54, of Valley Street, in MaryD, was found about 10:33 p.m. Sunday at 598 Valley St. after a car he was working fell on him.
A short story appeared in yesterday's TIMES NEWS.
Firefighters were called to the Fayash Racing garage after family members found Fayash under a race car.
"He was working in his garage on a vehicle that slid off the jack or fell off the jack," said state police Trooper Melissa Kyper of the Frackville barracks. "Unfortunately, it landed on him."
Kyper added that the incident occurred between 1:45 and 10:33 p.m. Sunday.
Kyer said he was found by family members.
Kyper, who wasn't sure of Fayash's exact injuries, said, "They're doing a virtual autopsy."
On Monday, Kyper said she was not sure when the autopsy will be performed due to the Sunday night fire in Pottsville that claimed four children and two adults.
A spokesman for county Coroner Dr. David J. Moylan's said a virtual autopsy on Fayash was scheduled to be performed Monday.
His obituary appears on page 4.
