Locust Valley Fish and Game holds 30th annual fishing rodeo

Volunteers and members with the Locust Valley Fish and Game Association held their 30th annual children's fishing rodeo over the weekend at their Barnesville pond on Back Road. Despite rainy weather, the event, reserved for children ages 4 to 14, brought in over 150 children. Organizers said that over 2,000 fish were stocked prior to the event.

"We used to have the event at Locust Lake," said longtime member Joe Rodick. "Now we raise and stock our own fish for our derbies." Rodick added that the club started in 1978 and bought its current location in 1987."Every kid got a prize," said trustee Thomas McMahon, who also serves as the chairman for the event. "Our club greatly appreciates all the volunteer support and community sponsors for helping to make the event a great one for all the kids."
