Gail Maholick/TIMES NEWS Levi McCullion, 2, catches his first fish at the Beaver Run Rod and Gun Club fishing event.
More than 100 children enjoyed a great day of fishing at the fishing derby sponsored by the Beaver Run Rod and Gun Club held Saturday at Andreas Sporting Club.
Children and grandchildren of members ages up 16 years old were invited to fish and every child received a prize. There were also special prizes given away, including 10 bicycles, two in each age grouping and prizes for the first fish, biggest fish, second biggest fish, first to catch limit, second to catch limit and smallest fish.
Winners of the bicycles were: Maykayleigh Bennett, Blake Whitehead, Liam O'Mally, Abby Orach, Nick Schaffer, Kallie Heckman, Jordan Cook, Molly Mertz and Matthew Miller.
Abby Orach, 9, of Summit Hill was having a great fishing day, catching four early in the contest and hoping to win the prize for being first to catch her limit.
For Levi McCullion, 2, of Owl Creek, his 15 inch trout was the first fish he ever caught. The event is held so that the children have a good time.
The club stocked the pond with 285 trout with four over 24 inches.
The fishing derby is an annual event.
