Students from the Jim Thorpe Area School District participated in the Regional Computer Fair, which was held in Schnecksville at the Carbon Lehigh Intermediate Unit (CLIU) 21 Central Office.
In the L.B. Morris Elementary School group of participants in the 2013 CLIU 21 PA Regional Middle School Computer Fair, Christina Steigerwalt placed second in Graphic Design.
The L.B. Morris participants weren't able to go due to inclement weather at that time but Technology Director Joe Brown drove the projects to the CLIU to be judged.
JTAHS school superintendent Dr. Barbara Conway and Brown invited the students to display their projects before a Curriculum and Instruction meeting.
School board members Randall Smith, Bill Allison, John Partenio, and Pearl Downs-Scheckler viewed and commented on the projects.
In the Jim Thorpe Area High School group participating in the High School Regional Computer Fair, Tai Xi Gentile took first place in two categories individually, Graphic Design and Animation.
Tai Xi Gentile and Haley Cope worked together and won in the Programming category.
Luke Carter took third place in Logo Design.
Chris Olita, Garret Rizzo, and John Hirschmugl took second place in Digital Video.
The first place winners will advance to the state competition in Carlisle at the end of May.
