Nesquehoning club plans derby

The Seventh Annual Nesquehoning Conservation Club Fishing Derby will be held on Saturday, beginning with registration from 8-9 a.m. on the grounds located near the creek just north of the Panther Valley Elementary School. The tourney is held in memory of Connell McCall of Lansford, a longtime fisherman and angling enthusiast who passed away Nov. 30, 2006. In addition to the club sponsoring the event, which attracts hundreds of youths annually to the refreshed creek, thanks to the NCC efforts, helping to host the derby are the Friends of Connell McCall. Above, Lisa Hiles, right, of Hiles Brothers Plumbing, Heating and Fuel Company, Summit Hill, a longtimesponsor, presents a donation to Bob Perrin of the Friends of Connell McCall. The event is free.
