Mr. and Mrs. Hilbert Haas of Lehighton celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary on April 15.

Mrs. Haas is the former Fran Pratcher of Summit Hill, daughter of the late Frank and Susan Pratcher. "Franny" retired in 2008 from the Lehighton Area School District where she was employed for 45 years. She is still employed as a crossing guard in Lehighton.Mr. Haas is the son of the late Calvin and Rebecca (Nothstein) Haas of Lehighton. He is retired from Haas' Grocery Store in Lehighton. He also is employed as a bus driver with George's Transportation for over 48 years.The couple has two children, Ken, at home, and Susan, wife of Roger Wirth of Tioga, Pa. They have two granddaughters, Katelin Rose, a college student residing in Glenwood Springs, Colo., and Chloe Elizabeth, a student at Williamson Jr. Sr. High School in Tioga.
