New water slideat Tamaqua pool

Tamaqua Borough workers are in the process of installing a new water slide at the Tamaqua Howard D. Buehler Memorial Pool at Bungalow Park. The new water slide was manufactured by Avalanche Waterslides and was installed by Sports & Recreation Associates of Apollo, PA at a cost of $69,000. "It is 12 feet high and 60 feet in length," said Kevin Steigerwalt, Borough Manager. The concrete pad, retaining wall, drainage, plumbing and electric were constructed by the Borough's Street and Water departments. The total project cost is approximately $95,000. The project was funded by our Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program and a $60,000 grant from the J.E. Morgan Foundation. Steigerwalt said the slide should be ready for use when the pool opens. The pool is scheduled to open three days during the Memorial Day weekend (May 25, 26 and 27), opening at 11:30 a.m. It will then reopen Saturday June 1st for the season. Season passes are available at the Tamaqua Borough.
