A Saylorsburg resident is facing a drug count following an incident in Jim Thorpe.

Borough police said about 12:04 p.m. on April 9 they were dispatched to the area of the 200 block of Center Avenue for a suspicious male and were given a description.

On scene officers found a male matching the description and identified him as Gregory J. Tucker, 22, of 2116 White Pine Drive. He was very disoriented and asked for a ride to Brodheadsville.

Police said Tucker also appeared to be very anxious and he was asked if he had any weapons or hazardous objects on his person. Tucker stated he had nothing of the sort.

Police conducted a patdown of Tucker and felt the outline of a suspected hypodermic needle in his left front pants pocket. Tucker would not answer when questioned about the item.

Police retrieved the item and confirmed it was a needle and Tucker admitted using it to inject heroin.

He was placed in custody and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and disorderly conduct. He was later released to the custody of his mother, police said.
