Art salad bowl

An "art salad bowl," featuring the work of budding artists from the Panther Valley School District, will be held March 28 at the Tamaqua Community Art Center, 125 Pine St. Students artists of all ages will attend the free 6-9 p.m. meet and greet session.

The local artists will be highlighting selected works in a variety of mediums, including canvas pieces in water color, acrylic, oil paint and pencil. Ceramic works will also be on display. Additionally, the session will include finished framed prints from the Daedal Doodle Project 2.0 of Victor Stabin, who is affiliated with the Panther Valley School District's artist in residence 2012 program, in partnership with the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts.

Senior citizens

The Tamaqua Senior Citizens group met March 21 at the Masonic Lodge in Hometown, with 63 members in attendance. Vice president Nancy Gerber conducted the business session.

Jacquie Patrick provided the invocation. Grace Moser was added to the sick list.

Due to the Easter holiday, the next meeting will be April 4 and will include a celebration of members' February and March birthdays. Senior Services will present an in-service program at 12:30 p.m. that day, providing information on a volunteer program.

The meeting concluded with cards and social games.

The seniors meet at 1 p.m. every Thursday, at the Masonic Lodge, located on SR54 (East) in Hometown.

Anyone 55 or older is welcome to join. The center is handicap accessible.

Bethany EC

The Rev. Kevin Roberts will officiate at the 8 a.m. traditional service Easter Sunday in Bethany Evangelical Congregational Church. Rev. Roberts will also officiate at a contemporary service at 10:25 a.m., at the Tamaqua YMCA. Sunday school classes will meet at 9:30 a.m. at the church.

Also on Sunday, the to save a life growth group will meet at 6:30 p.m. and the couples sacred marriage growth group will meet at 7 p.m.

Activities for next week will include: Monday, Drama growth group meets at 7 p.m.; Tuesday, Good News Club meets at 3:45 p.m., at the South Ward Playground, Homes of Honor parenting session meets at 7 p.m.; Wednesday, Tamaqua Youth Ministry meets at 6:30 p.m., GriefShare session begins at 7 p.m., TYM staff meets at 8 p.m.; Thursday, coffee shop theology growth group sessions begin at 7 a.m., encountering Jesus growth group meets at 1 p.m.; Friday, TYM's F.O.G.O.N. for elementary youth at 6:30 p.m.; Saturday, Big Creek Mission trip planning session at 6 p.m.

St. Peter's Union

The Rev. Cheryl Moore will officiate at the 6:30 a.m. and 9 a.m. worship services this Easter Sunday in St. Peter's Union Church, Mantzville. Both services will include Holy Communion. The Sunday school class will meet at 10:15 a.m.

Also on Sunday, the Confirmation class will meet at 11:30 a.m.

Activities for next week include: Thursday, prayer group meets at 4:45 p.m., worship and music committee meets at 6 p.m.; Saturday, Queens of Crop meet from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The choirs rehearse on Thursdays. Next week's schedule will include: cherubs at 6:30 p.m., juniors at 7 p.m., seniors at 7:30 p.m.
