Benjamin Oxley, 52, of Nesquehoning, was caught under a fall of coal at No. 2 shaft of the Nesquehoning colliery shortly before noon today and died of his injuries at 2:45 p.m. at the Coaldale Hospital where he was rushed directly after the accident. His legs were crushed and his back was broken. Oxley was well known in his home town as well as Mauch Chunk. He served capably as a constable of Mauch Chunk Township. Oxley's brother, George, was killed in the mines in 1919.
