VVOCC planning 40th anniversary

Vietnam Veterans Organization of Carbon County will celebrate the 40th anniversary of Vietnam Veterans Day will be held on at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 23 at the Lehighton American Legion Post 314. Members should arrive by noon.

Harry J. Wynn III will serve as master of ceremonies.The keynote speaker will be Lt. Col Norman Burger, U.S. Air Force (ret.). Additional speakers will be Kenneth A. Repsher Jr., commander of

V.F.W. Post 256; M.Jay Barry, commander of the VVOCC; Kevin M. Long, president of the Lehighton UVO; Robert Rehnert, commander of the AMVETS Post 106; Floyd C. Brown, commander of American Legion Post 314; and Henry M. Desrosiers, director of Carbon County Veterans Affairs;There will be a salute to all branches of the service by Henry Long, bugler; and a memorial to the 13 men killed in action from Carbon County by Ronald A. Neff, Adjutant.The 13 men are, Lansford, Anthony R. Giannangeli, William C. Whitehead Jr. and Michael P. Pavlocak Jr.; Lehighton, Ronald S.H. Christman, Leon D. Eckhart and Clyde R. Houser Jr.; Palmerton, Neal G. Bollinger and Clifford L. Sell; Parryville, Charles R. Jones; Summit Hill, George M. Bevich Jr.; Weatherly, Edward N. Beers, Paul Hunter and Samuel O'Donnell.
