State police at Fern Ridge reported on two crashes investigated by troopers.
A one-vehicle crash occurred about 11:06 a.m. on Monday, March 18, along Stony Mountain Road, in Penn Forest Township, Carbon County. Miriam Avellanet, 41, of Jim Thorpe, was driving a 2003 Audi A4 westbound when she became distracted and drove off onto the north shoulder, troopers said. The car struck a ditch then continued north across Ponderosa Road and struck a fence in a yard at 66 Ponderosa Road.
After that impact the car turned back in an easterly direction where it came to rest back on Ponderosa Road.
Avellanet and her passenger, Juana Toldeo, 80, of Brooklyn, N.Y., were not injured.
A two-vehicle crash was reported about 5 p.m. on Monday along Toll Road in Chestnuthill Township, Monroe County. Troopers said Renee A. Donahue, 19, of Effort, was driving a 1995 Chevrolet Beretta southbound and while negotiating a downhill left curve, she lost control of the vehicle due to snow on the road.
The car slid into the northbound lane were it struck a 2005 Nissan Murano, operated by Geraldine A. Delancy, 54, of Effort, head-on.
Delancy sustained a minor injury and was taken to the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg, by West End ambulance. Donahue was not injured.
