A driver using his cell phone was the apparent cause of a one-vehicle crash. State police at Schuylkill Haven said the accident occurred along Bacon Street, near Penn Street, in Palo Alto, Schuylkill County, on Monday, March 18.

Troopers said Kyle F. Lombel, 21, of Schuylkill Haven, was westbound operating a 2010 Cadillac CTS when he was attempting to connect his cell phone with the vehicle's blue tooth. The car left the road and crashed into a utility pole, coming to rest in a yard.

Lombel was not injured but damages were termed significant to the vehicle, which was towed from the scene. Lombel was cited for careless driving.
