Police 'taser' belligerent man

A Staten Island, N.Y., man who police had to "taser" to get him under control has been arrested for driving under the influence and resisting arrest.

Pocono Mountain Regional Police said Richard Maresca, 52, became belligerent towards officers after they came upon an accident at 5:30 a.m. March 9 on Long Pond Road, near Kuhenbeaker Road, in Tunkhannock Township.Police said they were on patrol when they came upon the accident, finding a pickup truck on its side and Maresca attempting to get out of it. Police said he became unruly towards officers and appeared to be intoxicated. When he attempted to leave the scene and resisted being taken into custody, police said they had to use a taser in order to gain control of the man.Maresca was transported to the Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg, to be treated for injuries he sustained in the crash.
