Published March 19. 2013 05:02PM

Two persons were injured in a two-vehicle crash at 5:42 p.m. March 16 on State Route 4033 (Ringtown Blvd.) in Union Township, Schuylkill County.

State police at the Frackville barracks said Paul L. Maurer, 21, and Peter J. Pengrin, 54, both of Ringtown, were transported to the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, by ambulance after the crash.

Police said the accident happened when Maurer was southbound in a 2001 Ford Ranger that went out of control on the snow-covered roadway. The vehicle spun into the path of a northbound 2005 Chevrolet Silverado, which struck the passenger's side of the Ranger with its front end.

Police said Pengrin had to be extricated from his vehicle by volunteers from the Ringtown Fire Department.

Police said Laurer will be cited for causing the accident.
