Slow-speed chase through three boroughs

A Coaldale man was taken into custody following a slow-speed chase through three boroughs around 2 a.m. Sunday morning.

According to police, Shawn R. Pettis, driving east on US209 in Tamaqua, failed to pull over to Officer Pete Wysochansky's lights and sirens. This resulted in a five-mile chase that ended after police officers boxed Pettis's vehicle in at the intersection of Center Street in Lansford.Also responding were police officers from Summit Hill, Coaldale, Lansford and Nesquehoning. No damage was done to Pettis's vehicle or any police cruisers during the chase. Shawn R. Pettis was taken into custody by Tamaqua Police.Pettis received medical care from Tamaqua Ambulance and was taken by Tamaqua Police to Pottsville Hospital.
