A female driver was seriously injured Friday afternoon when involved in a crash along East Lizard Creek Road (SR895) in East Penn Township. The crash occurred at 2:30 p.m. as the woman was driving east and apparently lost control of her car. The car reportedly left the right berm, entered a grass area and continued climbing a slight embankment where a travel trailer was sitting parked ar the top. It then struck the trailer head-on. The impact of the collision spun the car around, with the vehicle coming to rest facing west. Firefighters from the East Penn fire company extricated the driver from the wreckage. She was treated at the scene by members of the Palmerton ambulance and Lehighton paramedics, then flown via MedEvac to the Lehigh Valley Hospital trauma center in Salisbury Township. The roadway was shut down for over an hour. State police at Lehighton are investigating.
