Labor Chapter meets at new location

The Carbon County Labor Chapter will meet at the Democratic Information Center this month. The meeting will be on Monday, March 18, at 7 p.m. at the Information Center which is located at 110 S. 1st St. in Lehighton. The Information Center is directly across from the Senior Housing High Rise. Please note the change in location for this meeting.

The chapter will discuss possible actions against the Federal "Sequestration" which has meant 5,000 employees furloughed at The Tobyhanna Depot as well as other local impacts.

The chapter will also approve an action plan for the year.

The Carbon County Labor Chapter is the voice for working families in Carbon County and aims to raise awareness of issues that affect working people including union labor. Any union member, active or retired, is welcome to attend meetings.

The Labor Chapter has been honored to be selected by The Carbon County Education Association as the "2013 Friend of Education." The chapter will be honored at an April 4 event at the Blue Ridge Country Club.
