A Lehighton man has been arrested on charges that he assaulted his girlfriend.

Terry Williams, 51, was arraigned before District Judge Edward Lewis and placed in the Carbon County Correctional Facility in lieu of $25,000 straight bail.

The alleged assault occurred in Mahoning Township.

Police said that on March 3, at 6:27 p.m., they were dispatched to an assault at 111-A Jamestown Street.

Police stated that on arrival officers found a female had allegedly been assaulted by her boyfriend. She sustained serious facial injuries and was transported by Lehighton Ambulance to Gnaden Huetten Hospital for treatment.
