Vehicle stop leads to drug charges

A vehicle stop in Monroe County led to the arrest of a Northampton County resident on various drug charges.

State police at Lehighton said Howard Eugene Wolfe Jr., 32, of Bath, was stopped operating a 1994 Ford Escort along Shady Oaks Drive East, in Ross Township, about 6:30 p.m. on March 6, for a traffic violation.

After speaking with Wolfe, he identified himself as his known alias. A further investigation revealed that Wolfe was in possession of a large amount of suspected heroin.

He was taken into custody and charged with numerous drug violations, providing false identification to law enforcement, and numerous motor vehicle code violations.

He was lodged in the county prison in Snydersville, troopers added.
