Driver facing DUI after Monroe crash

A driver is facing a charge of driving under the influence (DUI) following a one-vehicle crash that occurred about 8:57 p.m. on Monday, March 4, along SR940 at Warner Road, Tobyhanna Township, Monroe County.

Pocono Mountain Regional police said officers responded to a report of an accident with rollover and a male trapped in the vehicle. On scene officers observed a Buick sedan on its side off the eastbound berm. Also observed was a male partially ejected and trapped between the vehicle and the ground.

The male was freed by Tobyhanna Township Fire Department volunteers. Police could smell the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from the male.

He was identified as Joseph Driscoll, 47, of Pocono Lake. He was transported to the Geisinger Wyoming Medical Center, Plains Township, Luzerne County, for treatment. Police also went to the hospital and obtained a blood draw. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

Police said the DUI charge is pending the blood test results.
