A fast-moving fire early Saturday morning in Penn Forest Township destroyed a dwelling along Keats Lane in Towamensing Trails. The fire was first reported at 2 a.m. as a dwelling with flames showing. First responders reported seeing a red glow in the sky five to six miles away. One firefighter reported as he was traveling south on SR903 through the intersection with SR534 in Albrightsville, he could actually see the flames. When the first companies arrived on scene they found the large wood frame, single-family dwelling fully involved. Immediately additional alarms were sounded with fire companies responding from throughout Carbon and Monroe counties. No injuries were reported in the incident. Due to the remote location of the scene, water had to be tanked into the site. A state police fire marshal has been requested to the scene. The home was a total loss.
